DJ Chris Evans Goes Live on Hair

He’s been worried about going bald for a few years now and has been taking hair growth pills to try and combat the hair loss.

But DJ Chris Evans has revealed that the treatment has backfired, and has noticed hair growing elsewhere on his person.

Addressing his 9 million listeners on his Radio 2 Breakfast Show, he said he felt like he was turning into former Radio 1 DJ Dave Lee Travis, who was known as the ‘Hairy Cornflake’.

He said, ‘I’m taking these pills to help my hair grow but it’s not only the hair on my head that’s growing, there’s lots of trimming to be done’.

And speaking to the Daily Star, a friend of the presenter said Chris, 45, was happy he was no longer receding but was now faced with this side effect.

They said, ‘Chris has discovered he’s got hair growing wildly in his ears, nose, eyebrows and other places’.

In January, Sir Elton John was a guest on Evans’s show and they spoke about losing their hair.
And Chris, who is a natural redhead, admitted that he had recently dyed it.

He said, ‘I’ve been having issues with my hair. It’s too white for the telly.

‘It looks too old so I had it coloured. But it’s over-coloured for real life. It’s OK for TV, but in real life it’s not’.

Three years ago, Evans was also left in despair over his hair when his doctor advised him not to eat any more butter or cheese because the foods encourage a form of eczema that ‘pushes the hair follicles out of my head’.

He told his audience, ‘I love butter, I mean I really love it, really really really. There’s nothing, nothing tastier, NOTHING!

‘I have to start tomorrow; otherwise, my hair’s gonna fall out. He said I can continue to eat it but if I do, I will be bald.

‘“The choice is yours”, he says. That’s not a choice, is it?’

He added, ‘I would make a very bad bald man, I don’t have the right shaped head for it or the right chin, or the right skin colour.

‘Round faced dark-skinned blokes look great bald, better than they do with hair for the most part but wirey red and otherwise pasty ginger blokes look dreadful’.

Hair Loss Affects Women Too

When people think of hair loss, they often forget about hair loss in women. Loss of hair in females is something that is more common than we realize. This condition is a significant issue that affects the lives of women everywhere. Women can more easily camouflage the issue of losing their hair by wearing wigs, scarves, hairpieces, extensions or using creative hairstyles hiding the problem from others and often from themselves.

What Causes Female Hair Loss

Hair loss in women can come from multiple sources. If you know the different causes, you can know what to look for if you are starting to see the beginnings of this condition. If you have already started to lose hair, then treatment should be imminent.

One of the major causes of hair loss in women is stress. Just like men, stress is one of the hair loss causes that can actually be stopped and reversed. Facing the problem and finding a solution to the stress issues permits the body to get back to normal without the ‘fight or flight’ hormones in its system. Consulting your doctor is the best way to work on this particular cause.

Another major cause is lack of proper nutrition. If someone has malnutrition issues or missing some of the important vitamins and nutrients that they need, they can lose their hair. The hair cannot remain thick and strong and the hair will not remain anchored to the follicle if the body does not have the healthy level of nutrition that it needs.

Another reason for loss of hair is the excessive use of hair chemicals. Hair loss in women can be caused by gooey shampoos or conditioners that clog the scalp follicles. Not enough shampooing leaves too much oil behind and too much shampooing with harsh products can strip the hair of essential oils, hence damaging the hair by making it weak and brittle.

Dyeing, perming, or straightening the hair uses chemicals that are not good for hair health. Excessive use of curling irons, flat irons, and blow dryers can also speed up the process of losing one’s hair. Also, some prescribed drugs can take their toll on the body and cause temporary or permanent loss. Most women want to look their “best” as judged by society in the latest magazine and TV ads but abuse of the scalp and body takes its toll eventually and we can wind up losing the very item we were trying to beautify in the first place.

There are also herbal remedies, nutritional supplements and vitamins which are also being promoted to help solve baldness problems. Some of them are nettle root, Chinese herb fo-ti, herbal green tea and saw palmetto. They can stop hair loss by inhibiting the enzyme that converts testosterone to DHT.

Your nutritionist will recommend you a personalized, well-balanced, diet program mixed with the taking of some nutritional supplements, and vitamins and minerals aimed not only in improving your health and fitness condition but in stopping hair loss too.

Biotin, vitamins A, B and E and minerals like magnesium, iron and zinc will also be helpful.

If you want other natural remedies, you can try massaging your scalp daily with almond or sesame oils. Alternative ingredients for massage would be henna, onion, and ginger or garlic juice, not to be mixed with each other but used independently.
